ROCIO MUNOZ, PH.D
Dr. Muñoz started her conflict resolution work in 1993. In her mediation private practice, she focuses exclusively on family and divorce matters. In addition to mediation, Dr. Muñoz provides a broad range of alternate options for dispute resolution that include parenting consultation, evaluation and child specialty services. She has pursued her training in this field through the American Academy of Forensic Psychology, the Mediation Council of Illinois, the Collaborative Institute of Illinois, and the Parenting Coordination Institute. Her roles as an expert witness, 604(b) evaluator, and parenting coordinator of the Domestic Relations Courts help her provide an informed and skilled environment in which to facilitate resolutions. Dr. Muñoz is often involved in cases that include multicultural and/or multilingual factors.
Dr. Muñoz earned M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Psychology with specialization in Health and Rehabilitation Psychology from theUniversity of Kansas. She completed her Clinical Psychology residency and post-doctoral years at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Her additional specialized training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at the Beck Institute in Philadelphia, and her certification as a Master Trainer in the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program from Stanford University. She is an active and full member of the American Psychological Association, the Mediation Council of Illinois, and the Chicago chapter of ACR. In addition to her service to MCI, Dr. Muñoz also serves on the Board of Directors for ACR-Chicago
